The busts and values of 2009
Quarterbacks
BUST: Matt Cassel, Kansas City Chiefs: He was 20th in the NFL in passing yards with 2,924 and tied for seventh with 16 interceptions.
VALUE: Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos: He threw for 21 touchdowns, which was tied for 15th in the NFL, and 3,802 yards, which was 11th. Orton didn't hurt his fantasy owners with negative points much, either, throwing 12 interceptions.
Running backs
BUST: Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders: McFadden was on most waiver wires at the end of the season. He ran for 357 yards, at 3.4 a carry, and one touchdown, with 21 catches for 245 yards.
VALUE: Rashard Mendenhall, Pittsburgh Steelers: Mendenhall was 16th in the NFL in rushing with 1,108 yards and ran for seven TDs.
Wide receivers
BUST: T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Seattle Seahawks: He struggled all season, ranking 28th in the league with 911 receiving yards.
VALUE: Miles Austin, Dallas Cowboys: He caught 10 passes for 250 yards and two scores in Week 5 at Kansas City and finished third in the NFL with 1,320 receiving yards.
Tight ends
BUST: Anthony Fasano, Miami Dolphins: He had two TD catches among 31 receptions, along with 339 receiving yards, which was 26th in the NFL among tight ends.
VALUE: Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers: He more than doubled his key statistics from 2008 to this season. More important, he caught 13 touchdown passes, best among league tight ends.
